Tax resolution

Got a letter from the IRS? Don't ignore the deadline.

Back taxes, audits, liens, and payment plans, handled by an attorney who is also a CPA with a Master of Laws in Taxation.

Few things are more stressful than an envelope from the IRS. Most notices give you 30 to 60 days to respond, and missing that window limits your options. Most tax problems can be fixed. The fix is often part legal and part accounting, and this office does both.

Why an attorney who is also a CPA

Tax problems sit where law and accounting meet. An attorney-CPA can prepare or correct the returns, negotiate with the IRS, and, if it comes to it, represent you in Tax Court. Legal advice from your attorney is generally protected by attorney-client privilege. Ask us how that applies to return preparation.

“I have been getting all of my tax needs taken care of here. I am a client for life.”

Questions people ask

Should I call the IRS myself first?

You can, but what you say can shape the case. It is worth a consultation before that call, especially if you owe for more than one year.

Can you stop a wage garnishment?

Often, yes, by setting up a payment plan or showing financial hardship. Timing matters, so call as soon as it starts.

I haven't filed in years. Where do I start?

With the missing returns. Filing them, even late, usually limits penalties and opens the door to a payment plan. We prepare the returns and deal with the IRS at the same time.

What is an offer in compromise?

An agreement to settle a tax debt for less than the full amount. The IRS accepts it only when it believes it can't collect more. We'll tell you honestly whether you're likely to qualify.
